Aeon Blu puts its money where its mouth is

WINTER PARK, FL - Software developers are not typically perceived as having healthy eating habits – associations with sodas and snacks go hand-in-hand with the pocket protector stigma. One local software company, however, is passionate about good food and doing good works for the community. In recognition and gratitude of one of our community's least recognized laborers, the farmworker, Aeon Blu made a $5,000 contribution to The Farmworker Association of Florida.
Aeon Blu's President Lance Turner shares, “I grew up in a farming family, and I appreciate the challenges of farming. It's hard work. Our local farmers and farmworkers feed us every day, and we often take for granted the fact that nearly every fruit and vegetable we consume is harvested by a farm laborer. They deserve our recognition and support.”
The Farmworker Association of Florida is a membership organization that was founded and is directed and governed by farmworkers. Founded in 1983 and located in Apopka, the organization defends the rights of farmworkers and works to improve the working and living conditions of farmworker families who we depend on for our food sources. Association member and general coordinator, Tirso Moreno notes “I am a farmworker myself, and I am proud of that. I am proud of my fellow farmworkers who work in the fields producing food and other farm products that end up on the tables and in the homes of America.”
